The new rate for customers who opt for time of use pricing is 105 centskwh for off peak use. Effective november 1 2020 eligible customers on the regulated price plan rpp now have the option to choose between time of use tou and tiered pricing plans. Under the governments covid 19 pricing plan hydro rates were initially set at 101 cents per kilowatt hour kwh of electricity for time of use customers regardless of the time of day.

As per the announcement the temporary single rate for hydro for covid 19 is coming to an end on november 1st and time of use tou rates will again apply. Toronto the ontario government is changing its hydro rates at the end of the month adding an additional 224 to an average electricity bill. Customers pay a lower rate when demand is low. Some of our customers without smart meters or in certain rural areas of the province fall under the tiered pricing plan.

Under tou prices this winter consumers will pay 217 cents per kwh during peak hours 15 cents in mid peak hours and 105 cents in off peak hours. October 13 2020 the oeb announced new electricity prices for households and small businesses effective november 1 under the regulated price plan. The government is permitting most hydro customers to choose between time of use and tiered pricing. Customers on tou pricing can choose to switch to tiered pricing starting immediately however the change will not take effect until after november 1 2020.
