Made by chaumet or cartier around 1910 the mountbatten tiara featured diamond scroll motifs topped with diamond trefoils and is thought to have been acquired by the then lady louis mountbatten who was a wealthy heiress in the 1930s. For her marriage to ceawlin thynn now 8th marquess of bath at longleat in 2013 the marchioness of bath then emma mcquiston borrowed a 19th century natural pearl and diamond tiara from her dear friend the late lady bathurst as her something borrowed.

The mountbatten pearl star tiara was notably worn by penelope eastwood when she married lord romsey now the 3rd earl mountbatten in 1979. 1870 remounted 1937 in england and gold silver diamonds button pearlsfrom the engrailed paved diamond circlet rise five five pointed diamond stars similarly paved and centered on a button pearl within a raised border. When her younger son lord louis mountbatten married edwina ashley in 1922 victoria gave him the new star tiara to present to his bride as a wedding gift. Diamond scroll motifs give this solid tiara a pierced feel and the design rises to a central point with a top line studded by diamond trefoil motifs.

When princess victoria married prince louis of battenberg in 1884 she received a major haul of jewelry from her royal relatives. The mountbatten tiara is a large and distinctive diadem with a modern feel for its age. Patricia mountbatten daughter of louis and edwina and the current countess mountbatten of burma wore the star tiara to marry john knatchbull 7th baron brabourne in 1946.
