In 1974 the southern railway tore down most of the train concourse. I am so happy to see people learning how cool union terminal is in. On may 15 1973 the cincinnati city councils urban development and planning committee voted 31 in favor of designating union terminal for preservation as a cincinnati local historic landmark preventing southern railway from destroying the entire building.
